Chair Professor
Electronic and Computer Engineering
Prof. Mansun Chan earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California, San Diego, in 1991, and subsequently obtained his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1995. He is a recognized expert in emerging semiconductor devices, having authored over 300 journal articles and 500 conference papers on the topic. Prof. Chan is particularly noted for his pivotal contributions to the development of the unified BSIM model for SPICE, which has been adopted as the first industrial standard MOSFET model by numerous U.S. companies and the Compact Model Council (CMC). He also led the research group that successfully demonstrated the first Stacked CFET technology, regarded as the most promising solution for extending CMOS scaling beyond the 2nm technology node.
